Mel Bashore
Artist and Designer
Mel Bashore resides in historic downtown St. Augustine, FL and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. Throughout her body of work, vivid colors and shapes tell the story of where we are - a beautiful, wild and idyllic tropical oasis in the middle of profound change.
Three areas of focus have emerged that share that story:
Abstract Coastal Topography - A series drawn from our coastal location and climate change, inspired by a lifelong fascination with maps, lines, and graphic patterns.
Elemental / Gold Threads - An abstract series combining many layers of vibrant paint, diluted with water. Embellished with gold that represents the sun, the layers of paint representing the ocean and nature’s elements. The water all around us reflects the sun, ripples with ever-changing patterns and holds great power, beauty and chaos.
Dreamland - A series of abstract landscapes that use pattern, shape, and bold colors, inspired by the rhythm in nature and the ambience of Florida’s tropical landscape.
Mel’s work is currently available at ArtBox Gallery in St. Augustine, FL and FemArt Gallery in Jacksonville, FL. She has exhibited in galleries and public spaces in St. Augustine, Daytona, and Jacksonville, and her work is is featured commercially in restaurants and luxury vacation rentals, as well as private collections.
